Notes: A delicate candlestick featuring the exotic amboyna burl with a wild base that looks as good from the bottom as from the top.  The amboyna twist was one that I had made some years ago and had turned the ends too narrow and both had fractured under the strain. I almost threw the twist away but for amboyna's extravagant cost and beauty.  One day I had the idea of cutting off the broken ends and attaching the blackwood pieces.  I had to do some hand carving of the blackwood to complete the twist.  After that, the neglected twist became the centerpiece for this candlestick, rather like the ugly ducking!
